Dec. 22nd, 2019 12:55 pmIn case my username didn't give it away, I'm Naomi.
I am a late-20 something widow and single mother of a 5 year old boy. I've been a sci-fi fangirl as long as I can remember, was active online in my teens, then real life happened. Then worse life happened. I'm now trying to find my way back to the things that make me happy. This journal is a mix of fannish and real life.
I have a small collection of mental illnesses, including but not limited to agoraphobia, panic disorder and dysthmia. I'm also prone to seasonal depression. All of this tends to come up a lot in my journal, especially when my mental health gets bad, but I try to remember to cut anything that may be upsetting to others.
I love the world-building aspects of science-fiction, the stories that embrace the big questions of who we are, where we came from and why we're here. I love discovering the unseen, the possibilities of what has been, what is, what might be and what could be. I love found families, hurt/comfort, competence, soul mates, OT3/poly, vampires, magic, werewolves and wings. I have a weakness for Coffee Shop AUs and am bored out of my skull with Sentinel fusions. I'm equal parts a slasher, femslasher and genfic lover. I've never tried my hand at writing fanfic and am steadily getting back into reading it again.
I grew up on - and still love - Star Trek and Star Wars. I also love Stargate (SG-1 and SG:A), and Doctor Who (new). I worship at the altar of Joss Whedon. I will watch anything Michael Shanks or David Tennant are in, and I have a total girlcrush on Amanda Tapping (Do you have any idea how awesome it was when she played a character with my name?). My heart still cries over the loss of Carrie Fisher. My toes dip in and out of the MCU and Supernatural. My newest shinies are Good Omen and Prodigal Son, and I'm slowly falling in love with Rick Riordan's writing.
